History
In 2014 we bought this old house on a rocky hill with magnificent views. It was originally an old farmhouse with equipment for making wine, holding pigs and donkeys, drying smoked ham (pršut)…
Starting as a small house they gradually added parts to the house. The oldest part of the house is more than 100 years old. In fact everything is still there, we only reinforced it and wrapped it in a modern jacket.
The first time we visited the house, we knew we wanted the place. The untouched nature, peacefull surroundings, fresh air and perfect panoramic view didn’t leave us indifferent.
After we finished all paperworks (it took 2 years) we started with the renovation. Meanwhile we ‘camped’ there, planning what a beautiful place for living it can be. The house had some basic necessities like a small woodburner and electricity. Besides that there was not so much modern comfort. The main toilet was separated from the house and there was no running water.
So as soon as we could, we started renovating the house, first the roof and the upper floor as living quarters for us. After that we organized the groundfloor so that there would be three guest bedrooms, a living area, kitchen, seating area and an extended large terrace. We also made new installations so that we could offer all nessecary comfort. And the last but very important addition was the swimming pool.
We also made a new approach to the house with stone stairs and a rearranged garden.
Now
The B&B is located on the ground floor and you can rent it as a holiday home for 6 or as 3 separate double rooms, each with their own bathroom. The 3 rooms are named Hvala, Malo and Vino.
There is also a living space with kitchen and seating area, an outdoor terrace and a swimming pool (these spaces are shared among the guests). Each morning breakfast will be served on the terrace or inside.
In the garden, located on a slope, several terraces have been created where all kinds of vegetables, fruits, herbs,… are grown. (These can of course be used by the guests). Meanwhile, by the pool, we have constructed a sun terrace, a lounge area under a large pergola and an outdoor kitchen. The outdoor kitchen is equipped with a BBQ, pizza oven and honesty bar where you can grill yourself, participate in our pizza tasting or have a fresh drink to enjoy by the pool.
Future
We still have some projects to do in the next few years. The garden is in full development. In the front yard we are creating multiple terraces in order to grow lots of vegetables, herbs, flowers and fruit trees.
Next to the pool we want to make a little playground for children. Behind the swimming pool we will develop a vineyard and a place for the chickens.
In the vineyard we also want an area with an outside bed. This feature will allow our guests to fully experience the beautiful starry sky in this rural environment with minimal light polution.
Next to the swimming pool, we will add a barbeque house with pizza oven and a lounge area (see pictures).
The B&B now offers space for 6 people but in the future we will be able to accomodate 8 people. This is possible once we convert the basement to a bedroom with bathroom.
