‘On The Rocks’ is located on a hill overlooking the small rural village of Blizna Donja and the surrounding hills with the sea behind them.
This rocky area consists of lime stone hills covered with Mediterranean scrub and plants that can survive the warm and dry summers.
The area is rich in Mediterranean plants and animals, e.g. orchids, butterflies, reptiles and birds. (see Nature)
For hundreds of years, parts of these hills are cultivated with very extensive vineyards and olive orchids delivering the best Croatian olive oil and wine.
Endless stone walls mark out these parcels of land, creating the typical Dalmatian landscape. (On the island HVAR these walls are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site.)
Even old Dalmatian country houses are made complete of limestone rocks, including the roof.
